Hey guys. Here’s your yearly reminder to please give to more accepting charities than The Salvation Army for the holiday season. They are vehemently anti-gay, refusing to give domestic partner benefits and even shelter to gay couples that are in need.

Some alternatives:

• HRC
• The Task Force
• State Based organizations (EqualityNC, Freedom to Marry NY, and GSE, for example)
• The Trevor Project
• Homeless Shelters for LGBT Youth, like the Ali Forney Center

YES! I have to remind even my most politically savvy gay friends to not drop those quarters into the bucket held by the person ringing a bell and save them for a more tolerant organization.

I made the mistake of not looking at their website before I did volunteer work for a paper. That was the only and last time I will volunteer for them. Fuck them. Srsly.
